Rutgers scored its 18th commitment of the 2016 class, and its second defensive linemen, in Philadelphia product Tymir Oliver.

Seemingly out of the blue, Tymir Oliver pulled the trigger for Kyle Flood and the Scarlet Knights. Oliver is a 6'4" 260 lb. defensive end, consensus rated as a three-star prospect. He has long held the Knights in high regard, and has taken several visits, but didn't want to commit before his mother could visit campus. According to Todderick Hunt, that happened today.

Bigtime Connecticut WR Isaiah Wright just committed to Rutgers!

The hits keep coming. Isaiah Wright, a 6'1" 220 lb. receiver from Kingswood Oxford, in West Hartford, CT just became the fourth WR in the 2016 class. Wright was one of the top remaining targets on Rutgers WR board, and his commitment is great news.

New CT addition to the 2016 F.A.M.I.L.Y.!!
#RFootball #RFamily
#TheBirthplace
#CHOPNation
CHOP!
— Kyle Flood (@KyleFloodRU) July 1, 2015

Wright had offers from Ohio State, Maryland, BC, UConn, Syracuse and UMass. Rivals ranks him as a three star, and the second highest ranked player in Connecticut.

Wright spoke with 247's ChopNation, and said the following:

"I've been on campus a couple of times and I felt like I really fit in there," he said. "I'm so comfortable at Rutgers, I feel like I already go there, so I felt it was the best fit for me. I get along great with the players - Leonte's my boy, Andre (Boggs), and Kiy (Hester) - I get along great with all of them."

His film shows an elusive, fluid receiver who is also big enough to be very difficult to tackle, and who can gain big yards after contact. He reminds me of Mo Sanu (and not just because of his trick play QB work), so . . that works for me.

Rutgers 2016 WR recruiting is likely done with this commitment, although a handful of special prospects (Smothers, Claypool, Harmon) could cause the staff to find room for a fifth receiver.

Welcome to the Banks Isaiah!

TAKE THAT, EDSALL!!!

Rutgers landed a commitment from maybe the best 2-star recruit out there in Dematha Catholic (MD) OT Elijah Johnson. Johnson boasts an offer list from multiple power 5 schools such as Pitt, West Virginia, BC, Maryland, and Virginia.

New MD addition to the 2016 F.A.M.I.L.Y.!! #RFootball #RFamily #TheBirthplace #CHOPNation CHOP!

Standing at 6-6 and tipping the scales at around 320 pounds, Johnson likely rounds up the Rutgers recruiting class at offensive line. He joins 3-star recruits Nick Krimin and Justin Morgan as the future bodyguards of Anthony Russo. In regards to Russo, he has nothing to complain with 3 behemoth lineman protecting him and paving the way for incoming HB Trey Snead.

Another reason to be excited about Johnson is that we stole him right from the clutches of hot head Randy Edsall, who was hoping to have him protect some QB from Maryland that committed to him. In addition, Rutgers is still in play for Johnson's teammate Tino Ellis and he could help sway Ellis to think about Rutgers more than schools like Virginia Tech and Maryland.

Above all, Kyle Flood has once again dipped into unfamiliar territory and snagged a kid that can help make an impact. Before you think "ugh, what good is a 2-star," take a look at his offer list and watch his highlights below to understand why this is a great get for Kyle Flood and his staff. It also doesn't hurt that our smallest O-Line commit is 320 pounds; what a great problem to have!

Rashawn Battle moved up his commitment time-table to join the Scarlet Knights, following a great camp experience.

This has been one hell of a fun month for Scarlet Knight fans.
Rashawn Battle (Wallenpaupack, PA) became the thirteenth member of Rutgers class when he accelerated his commitment schedule to join the Scarlet Knights. Choosing primarily between RU and Pitt, Battle originally planned to commit on his birthday, July 20, but after camping and competing at Rutgers yesterday, decided to make the call now.

Battle looks like the future at middle linebacker, and standing 6'3" 225 lbs, comes with the size and strength to combat B1G running backs rumbling through the middle with full heads of steam. Rivals rates him a 3-star prospect, and he also had offers from Pitt, Cuse, Temple, BC, Colorado State and Indiana.

Battle is the fourth linebacker to commit to the Scarlet Knights, joining Elias Reynolds, Jon Pollock, and Solomon Manning. This is a very strong group and a massive recruiting victory for Kyle Flood. According to multiple sources, these four players were the top 4 linebackers on Kyle Flood's board. Flood can now boast the top linebackers in Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey.

Being a camp standout, Hayes, who had no other major D1 offers, fits the profile of Kemoko Turay and recent commit Justin Morgan. It is safe to say that Rutgers fans will gladly sign up for more under the radar stars like Turay and Hayes could be just that. Everyone in attendance at camp had high praise for Hayes, who was the best corner there and was described as being lock down. Hayes committing right after being offered showes his eagerness to be a Scarlet Knight and hopefully this translates into success. We wish Hayes the best in his senior year and can't wait to have him on campus again!

Rutgers earned an on-the-spot commitment from behemoth Brooklyn OT Justin Morgan after offering him at the Big Man Academy.

Rutgers now has 650 pounds of talented O-Linemen in its 2016 class. 6'7", 335 lb. Justin Morgan of Brooklyn's Poly Prep committed to Rutgers on the spot after receiving an offer at the Big Man Academy Friday night.

Morgan joins Nick Krimin as the second O-line commit, and becomes the fourth Brooklyn player to join this class, with Poly Prep teammate Elias Reynolds and Grand Street receivers Taysir Mack and Ahmed Bah.

Kyle Flood has figured out how to pick the lock on Brooklyn and NYC generally, and that's a great development.

Morgan's hudl tape is locked, so we can't comment on his highlights, but he had offers from Pitt and Illinois. This is Wisconsin-size beef, homegrown in our own backyard. Krimin and Morgan should be able to give Anthony Russo plenty of time to throw the rock.

Welcome and congrats Justin!

Rutgers picked up its second commit in as many days as Venice, FL DT Jarrod Hewitt joined the Knights.

Rutgers and Coach Flood have been on a recruiting hot streak in June, and that continued today as the Knights landed 6'2" 290 pound defensive tackle Jarrod Hewitt, from Venice, Florida. Hewitt committed while on a multi-day unofficial visit to Rutgers.

Hewitt is a consensus three-star prospect offers from Pitt, Virginia Tech, Purdue, Temple and South Florida, and he was beginning to draw interest from Florida's big three, as well as programs like Clemson.

His highlights are impressive, and in his junior season, he claimed 14 sacks and 112 tackles (74 solo). He also benches 415 pounds, and squats 510.

He is explosive through the gaps to get at the QB, and strong against the run, regularly fighting through double teams. Most notably, he has a non-stop motor and is a violent hitter if given even a small running start.
