Max Melton did not have to wait too long into day two of the 2024 NFL Draft to hear his name called.

The Arizona Cardinals selected the Scarlet Knights cornerback with the 43rd overall pick in the second round. Melton becomes the highest draft pick for Rutgers since 2007 when the St. Louis Rams selected Brian Leonard with the 52nd overall pick.

Overall, Melton is the 67th Scarlet Knight to be drafted in the history of the program.

Melton spent four years in Piscataway, playing in 43 games. He totaled 114 tackles, eight interceptions, 16 pass breakups, and four fumble recoveries. Melton added four blocked punts as a member of the special teams. Last season, Melton came away with three interceptions.

Melton emerged as an intriguing prospect last season but impressed at the NFL Combine, headlined by a 4.39 40-yard dash.

Melton brings an excellent blend of speed, quickness, and athleticism. He now joins his brother and former Scarlet Knight, Bo Melton, in the NFL. Melton is a member of the Green Bay Packers and former seventh-round pick in 2022 by the Seattle Seahawks.
