Greg Schiano continues to pound away at the Class of 2022.
On Thursday night, four-star linebacker Moses Walker announced his commitment to Rutgers. The Erasmus Hall product took to Twitter to make the announcement.
Walker chose Rutgers over Penn State, whom he visited in June, as part of his two finalists but was also offered by the likes of Texas A&M, Miami, LSU, and USC. Walker highlighted what the Scarlet Knights can do for him on and off the field.
“They’re making the cut for me because they’ve shown me what they can do for me after football,” said Walker back in March. “They can help build me as a man and I like that about them. On top of that, I also feel like they can help me get to the next level.”
Walker is currently ranked as the No. 1 player in New York, according to 247Sports. He is also listed as the no. 19 linebacker and 168th best prospect overall in the 2022 class. The 6-foot-2 linebacker has a chance to contribute to the recent success of the position at Rutgers. Olakunle Fatukasi and Tyshon Fogg have built nice careers in Piscataway and will return for the 2021 season.
Walker is now the second four-star linebacker that has committed to Rutgers in the Class of 2022. He joined Anthony Johnson out of Philadelphia. Rutgers is also prepared to add Khayri Banton, another four-star linebacker, from the Class of 2021.
Rutgers now has six four-star recruits pledged to the program as part of the 2022 recruiting class. Walker joins the likes of Johnson, WR Amarion Brown, OL Jacob Allen, and QB Gavin Wimsatt, who is the highest-rated quarterback recruit in program history and seventh-highest overall.
The Scarlet Knights 2022 recruiting class is now listed 11th nationally and 4th in the Big Ten prior to Walker’s commitment per 247 Sports composite rankings.
