Quarterback Gavin Wimsatt committed to Rutgers back in April. The four-star recruit became the highest-rated quarterback commit in the history of the Scarlet Knights.

Earlier in the month, Wimsatt showcased what he can do in Nashville during the Elite 11. Now, he will move onto a bigger stage and compete against other elite talent at the quarterback position.

Wimsatt was invited to the finals and will have a chance to add his name to a prestigious list. The finals will take place beginning on June 30 through July 3 in Los Angeles.

Some previous winners in the competition include Justin Fields, Tua Tagovailoa, and Jameis Winston — just to name a few.

Of the last 13 quarterbacks to win the Heisman Trophy, 12 of them have either made an appearance in the Elite 11 Finals or a regional. Wimsatt has the potential to make some noise at the next level and this is a chance to showcase his potential.

The Owensboro High School product is the 94th-ranked player in the nation and the top players in Kentucky, according to 247Sports. He chose the Scarlet Knights over the likes of Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Oregon, and Ole Miss.
