Rutgers football was busy adding talent to its special teams unit this past weekend. In addition to South Brunswick kicker Jai Patel committing to the 2022 recruiting class, Eric Bernstein announced he was headed to RU after transferring from Towson.
Huge thank you to @CoachScheier and @Coach_KBruno for welcoming me into their family. Also thank you to @OneOnOneNJNYPA @HKA_Tanalski and @CoachCahillShow for helping to get me this opportunity. Only the start! #chop #letsride ⚔️ pic.twitter.com/f0vCHbLp2v

The East Meadow, New York native has four years of eligibility remaining and has a big leg. See below on a 56 yard attempt shared on Twitter last week by his kicking coach Brendan Cahill.

The preferred walk-on will compete next season with returning starter Valentino Ambrosio, Guy Fava and incoming freshman walk-on Michael O’Conner for kicking duties. Special Teams coordinator Adam Scheier has done a good job of adding talent at kicker this offseason. Both Bernstein and Patel should be factors for Rutgers on special teams for years to come.
