Welcome to episode no. 95 of the On The Banks podcast. This week’s guest is Rutgers field hockey head coach Meredith Civico.
In her ninth season, Civico led RU to its first ever winning record in Big Ten play since joining the conference. The Scarlet Knights earned four victories over top ten ranked foes with regular season sweeps of Penn State and Northwestern, finishing in a tied for third place in the league standings. Civico was named Big Ten co-Coach of the Year and a record four players earned All-Big Ten honors. The Scarlet Knights finished the season with a 9-6 record and final ranking of no. 7 in the NFHCA Coaches Poll.
During the episode, we discussed the historic season that just ended, the heartbreak of just missing out from qualifying for the reduced field in this year’s NCAA Tournament, the progress the program has made during coach Civico’s nine year tenure, having a baby in the middle of the season, the veteran core returning for next season, what this team needs to do to take the next step forward and much more.
Thanks to coach Civico for joining us and enjoy the show.
