The defense held firm, holding Ohio State without a shot the rest of the way to secure the victory. RU beat the Buckeyes twice this season.
The Scarlet Knights outshot the Buckeyes 9-5 and 3-1 with shots on goal. RU has held opponents to single digit shot attempts in every game this season.
Goalkeeper Meagan McClelland made one save in the victory for her sixth shutout of the season.
RU also held a 4-1 advantage on corner kicks.
The Scarlet Knights (8-2-3) advanced to the Big Ten Tournament semifinals for the second straight season and fourth time overall since joining the conference. The semifinals will take place this Thursday, April 15 at the home field of the highest seed remaining, which is Big Ten regular season champion Penn State. The semifinals have been reseeded and Rutgers will play Wisconsin at 7:30 p.m and will air live on BTN. The Badgers won 1-0 on March 28 with a goal in the 87th minute. It should be a battle once again in the rematch. The full Big Ten Tournament bracket is here:
