It’s time to dance!
Welcome to an episode of the On The Banks podcast we’ve waited a long time to be able to do!
Episode no. 92 is our NCAA Tournament special with Rutgers men’s basketball set to make its first appearance in 30 years. The game will tip-off on Friday, March 19 at 9:30 p.m. ET on TBS and no. 10 seed Rutgers plays no. 7 seed Clemson.
We super sized this special with two guests who have long covered this program and who I thought stood alone in being able to help to put the opportunity ahead into perspective for Steve Pikiell’s team.
This two-part episode first features longtime On The Banks contributor, Rutgers graduate, season ticket holder and Court Club social media maven Dave White. We discussed the different experiences fans are having based on how long you have supported Rutgers, the coaching era’s during the three decade drought and why each failed to turn the corner, why Pikiell has been different, as well as this current team and what to hope for on Friday against Clemson.
Returning guest and dean of the New Jersey and Rutgers basketball beat Jerry Carino of Gannett and the Asbury Park Press then joins to discuss the matchup with Clemson, questions surrounding the Scarlet Knights and the importance of winning one game at the NCAA Tournament.
There is plenty more discussed with both guests as we tried to capture the emotions and importance of this moment for Rutgers after years of despair.
Thanks to Dave and Jerry for coming on this special episode and thanks so much for listening.
