The Rutgers men’s soccer team improved to 2-1 on the season after a 1-0 road victory on Saturday. The match was played indoors at Mercyhealth Sportscore in Loves Park, Illinois.
A pair of sophomores, Jackson Temple and Oren Asher, delivered big performances in the victory.
Temple scored off a rebound in the 50th minute to put the Scarlet Knights in front for good. Senior Kyle Galloway was credited with the fourth assist of his career after taking the initial shot that was blocked.

Soon after in the 55th minute, Wisconsin earned a penalty kick but goalkeeper Asher made the crucial save. He earned his second shutout of the season and fifth of his career.

Rutgers has now beaten Wisconsin in consecutive meetings. They’ll next face No. 23 Maryland at home on Wednesday, March 3 at 12 p.m.
