Welcome to episode No. 109 of the On The Banks podcast. In this week’s episode, we focus on a full midseason review for Rutgers football ahead of Saturday’s matchup against Northwestern this Saturday. The road contest is slated for a 12:00 p.m. ET kickoff and it’s airing live on the Big Ten Network.
Joining us on this week’s episode is Rutgers great Mike Teel. The all-time leading passer in Rutgers history also led the program to its first three bowl victories ever. He is now a radio analyst for home games alongside Chris Carlin and Eric LeGrand on the RWJBarnabas Health Rutgers Sports Network broadcast.
We discuss the current state of the program and how Rutgers has performed in the first six games of this season. In addition, Teel gives key insight on the quarterback situation, the job Noah Vedral has done, the potential of Gavin Wimsatt and analysis on the play calling of offensive coordinator Sean Gleeson. We also discussed the defense, the importance of the Northwestern game, Schiano’s handling of the rebuild so far and much more.
Teel also gives insight on Jalen Berger, who he coached at Don Bosco, regarding his recent dismissal from Wisconsin and the potential for him to end up at Rutgers.
We also cover a fall sports update at the top of the episode.
Thanks to Mike for his time and insightful analysis on all things Rutgers football in this episode. And thanks to all of our listeners for tuning in once again.
