Sebastian Rivera of the Scarlet Knight Wrestling program will be competing at the World Championships starting tomorrow (4:00AM EST) in the 65kg (143.3lbs) weight class representing Puerto Rico. Rivera received his draw this afternoon and will be facing M. Sacultan of Moldova in the first round. His American counterpart at this weight, Yianni Diakomihalis, ended up on the opposite side of the bracket, so the only chance of the two facing off would be in the finals.
Rivera, ranked 4th at 133lbs by Intermat going into the upcoming season, is a four-time All-American and transferred to Rutgers from Northwestern after the 2019 season. He finished 4th in the NCAA tournament last year while representing the Scarlet Knights. The UWW World Championships take place this weekend in Oslo, Norway and can be streamed on FloWrestling.
