On The Banks podcast no. 77 featuring Patrick Kivlehan

Host Lance Glinn talks with the former Rutgers football and baseball player.

Pittsburgh v Rutgers

Welcome to episode no. 77 of the On The Banks podcast! Host Lance Glinn talks with former Rutgers football and baseball player Patrick Kivlehan, who has had one of the more remarkable playing careers of any Scarlet Knight in the past decade.

After playing four seasons during Greg Schiano’s first tenure as head coach, Kivlehan then played one season for longtime baseball coach Fred Hill as a walk-on. He was named the 2012 Big East Player of the Year and was drafted in the fourth round of the Major League Baseball draft that same year. He has played at the major league level for the San Diego Padres, Cincinnati Reds and Arizona Diamondbacks.

Topics covered include Kivlehan’s motivation to try out for Rutgers baseball after his senior season with the football team, coach Schiano’s reaction to that decision, his experiences playing for two of the most successful coaches on the banks in Schiano and Hill, his favorite memories playing in the big leagues and much more.

Thanks to Patrick for being a guest on the podcast and thank you for listening.
