Rutgers wrestling continues to land top talent on the recruiting trail, as Brian Soldano committed to the program on Monday night. The reigning State champion at 160 pounds is the top prospect in New Jersey in the class of 2022 and ranked 12th best in the nation overall per FloWrestling.
Soldano still has two years left at High Point high school, where former Rutgers heavyweight Billy Smith works as an assistant coach. He went 38-1 as a sophomore en route to a state title.
This is a great addition to the program for head coach Scott Goodale and his staff, who are now off to a tremendous start with the 2022 class. Soldano will probably wrestle on the banks at either 157 pounds or 165 pounds. He has a chance to make an impact immediately once he does arrive in two years.
Here are highlights of Soldano’s dominant performance in winning the NJ state title at 160 pounds this past season.
