BTN’s July Rutgers Day debuts signature victories across nine sports

Football’s highest ranked win in program history headlines a lineup that features key moments for many programs, as well as a new documentary on Greg Schiano’s first rebuilding job.

While the uncertainty of fall sports taking place across the college landscape and in the Big Ten looms large as the dog days of summer are here, a positive experience for Rutgers fans the past few months has been BTN featuring a day long celebration each month highlights previous victories. This month’s Rutgers Day takes place this Thursday, July 23.

May focused on recent key wins for men’s basketball and notable football victories over the past decade, but I felt it wasn’t a very balanced lineup. To their credit, BTN took the suggestions and improved the lineup in June by adding the highest ranked win in program history for men’s basketball, as well as key moments for men’s lacrosse and women’s soccer.

July is the most dynamic lineup yet, featuring signature victories for gymnastics, field hockey, women’s lacrosse, women’s basketball, softball, men’s soccer and wrestling, in addition to multiple football and men’s basketball games.

For those two main sports, BTN is airing for the first time the highest ranked win the football program has ever had against no. 2 South Florida in 2007, as well debuting one of the best men’s hoops victories ever over no. 10 Florida, which marked the return of Mike Rosario. Both were phenomenal games and two of the best wins for all of Rutgers Athletics in the past two decades.

In addition, the athletic department announced that a new documentary on the football program titled “Rutgers Rise” will debut as well. It highlights the first tenure of Greg Schiano as head coach on the banks and is the first part of a two-part series. It will air at 7:30 p.m. The press release said “Rutgers Return” will air at a later date and the title alludes to a focus on Schiano’s celebrated return to the program this past December

Get your popcorn ready, stay of the heat and enjoy the lineup below.
