On Tuesday, Rutgers men’s basketball’s Ben Asher, the Director of Operations and Recruiting, was named to the 2020 Under Armour 30-Under-30 Team. It was announced by the National Association of Basketball Coaches and the list recognized 30 of the most outstanding men’s college basketball coaches under the age of 30.

Asher has been with Rutgers since the arrival of Steve Pikiell as head coach. After serving as Pikiell’s special assistant for three seasons, Asher was promoted to his current role. Key areas that Asher has been an asset with include recruiting and social media. His ability to connect with players and knowledge of the game makes it obvious he has a bright future ahead.

One of Pikiell’s strengths during his tenure at Rutgers has been building and maintaining a strong staff from top to bottom. Asher is certainly a great example of someone who has played an important role in the program’s resurgence.

A West Virginia graduate, his career began as head student manager for the men’s basketball program under legendary head coach Bob Huggins.
