Welcome to episode no. 68 of the On The Banks Podcast, as host Lance Glinn is joined by former Rutgers men’s basketball assistant coach and current head coach of Fairfield, Jay Young. No other person has coached alongside Rutgers head coach Steve Pikiell longer than Young, who sat next to him on the bench for 14 seasons, including three in Piscataway. Young was instrumental in the progress the program has made during Pikiell’s tenure, as he coached the frontcourt and ran the defense that became a major part of the team’s identity these past few seasons.

Topics covered this episode include similarities between the rebuilding jobs at Stony Brook, Rutgers, and Fairfield, the defense-first mantra he brought to Rutgers and has continued at Fairfield, certain moments at Rutgers when he realized what they were building was working, his relationship with coach Pikiell and much more.

Thanks so much to coach Young for joining us and enjoy the episode.
