As sports across the country remain closed and social distancing continues to be the new reality for now, Rutgers football is reaching out to fans in an innovative way. With spring practice cancelled and the Scarlet-White game not taking place on Saturday, April 25, the program is doing something different to connect with the fan base. A live streamed Q&A with head coach Greg Schiano will take place on the Rutgers Football YouTube Channel on the 25th instead. Longtime voice of the the program, Chris Carlin, will host the chat.

Here is information from Saturday’s press release on how fans can interact and submit questions for coach Schiano.

Rutgers fans are invited to join the Rutgers Football Virtual Fan Day, a live event streamed on the Rutgers.Football Youtube channel on Saturday, April 25 at 1 p.m. The show will feature a live Q&A with head coach Greg Schiano and host Chris Carlin, in addition to social media posts from fans, gameday videos and the first opportunity for fans to claim their official Spring poster.

Fans are encouraged to use #RUFunDay and #RUALLin on social media for the chance to have their posts featured in the show. Questions can be tweeted to @RFootball or @ChrisCarlin using #RUFanDay.

The press release hinted at special guests making appearances as well.

Credit coach Schiano for finding new ways to continue to engage the fan base during a time when it’s difficult to do so. His willingness to adapt and wanting to make fans a priority are more reasons Schiano was the right choice to lead the program, aside from his ability to coach and recruit at a high level at Rutgers. Hopefully, a large amount of fans will take the opportunity to interact with this event next Saturday.
