While discussing the preparedness of New Jersey regarding COVID-19 during an appearance on the Moose and Maggie show on WFAN on Tuesday, Governor Phil Murphy praised the direction of Rutgers athletics. The last question asked of him was regarding his recent tweet congratulating Rutgers basketball on the commitment from 4-star big man Cliff Omoruyi. Murphy expounded on how excited he was with the recruiting success under head coach Steve Pikiell.
He also took time to praise football head coach Greg Schiano leading the program now, as well as his role in getting him back to Rutgers. While also mentioning women’s basketball head coach C. Vivian Stringer, who just appeared on our latest podcast episode, and “a few of the other coaches there”, Murphy summed up his feelings by saying “Rutgers is rocking right now.” You can listen to the one minute that the Governor made his comments at the very end of his appearance here.
