After opening up Big Ten play with two victories last week, the Rutgers men’s basketball team moved up in the AP Poll to no. 11 on Monday. It’s the program’s highest ranking in the AP Poll since the 1975-1976 season. They moved up eight spots from last week.
Rutgers is off to a 2-0 start in Big Ten play and is 6-0 overall with three wins over teams currently in the KenPom Top 50 in Syracuse (no. 49), Maryland (no. 31) and Illinois (no. 11).
The Scarlet Knights are 1-0 against ranked opponents this season (Illinois) and face four more in the next five games including against no. 23 Ohio State twice beginning on Wednesday in Columbus, as well as no. 4 Iowa and no. 12 Michigan State in the next two plus weeks.
