Al-Shadee Salaam had been committed since March of this year so it was merely a formality for him to make it official Wednesday.

Welcome, @AlshadeeSalaam pic.twitter.com/PfHIyURiVv
Salaam is a high three-star running back prospect with a dozen Power Five offers and it shows. He just runs away from people in the open field and can stop on a dime to cut through traffic. He is all over the place on defense as well. The only reason his ranking is not higher is his measurable size, but he plays bigger than he is and packs a punch upon contact. He has more experience than Isaih Pacheco when he arrived on the banks, with similar physical ability. He should play right away on kickoff coverage because of his ability to deliver big hits unless he comes right out of the chute as a rotational running back.
247 Sports Composite Ranking: 3-star; 16th in NJ; 878th & 9th APB nationally
High School Position: RB / DB (5’9”, 170 lbs.)
Projected college position: Running back / Cornerback
High School: East Orange
Hometown: East Orange
Most notable other offers: Michigan, Minnesota, Purdue, Pitt
The Rutgers Running back group was again one of the team’s best groups, but still required a lot of mixing and matching. As a result, expect running back by committee again in 2021 with opportunities for true freshmen as are always available at the position. Rutgers needs its backs to be able to catch and make players miss because they are not going to have massive holes to run through until the offensive line takes another leap forward.
Floor: Clarence Pittman
