Q&A with Maize N Brew

The Big Ten season has been wildly unpredictable and while the idea of Rutgers beating Michigan on the surface seems crazy, it certainly isn’t much of a stretch this time around. Both teams are 1-3 and enter this matchup on three game losing streaks.

The Wolverines have struggled on offense while also giving up big plays in the pass game. For Rutgers to win any Big Ten contest the rest of the way, they need good quarterback play. Noah Vedral is starting once again and while he has had some positive moments, has thrown three interceptions in two games already this season. He had a very poos second half in the loss to Illinois and how he responds tonight against a susceptible Michigan secondary will be a key to the game.

Rutgers also needs to be much better against the run tonight. They were second in the Big Ten in rushing defense before surrendering more than 300 yards in the loss to Illinois.

The emotional state of each team will be something to watch for as well. I expect Rutgers to be ready to play and focused on performing the best they have all season. How Michigan responds after a disappointing season will be fascinating to watch.
