With Rutgers on a bye this week, the Scarlet Knights turn their focus to Boston College, who will visit SHI Stadium on Saturday, September 21st. It was announced on Monday the game will kickoff at noon. The game will air live on BTN.
Boston College leads the all-time series 19-6-1, having gone 12-0-1 in the last 13 meetings against Rutgers between the former Big East foes. The Scarlet Knights did win the inaugural game of the Big East conference in 1991, defeating BC 20-13 in old Rutgers Stadium. This will be the first meeting between the two schools since 2004.
The Eagles are 2-0 to begin the season and host Kansas this coming weekend. They own victories over Virginia Tech (35-28) and Richmond (45-13). BC has 17 players on the roster from New Jersey, including four starters, led by senior quarterback Anthony Brown.
Rutgers (1-1) was blown out last Saturday 30-0 at Iowa, in what was a failed first test in showing significant improvement this season. Hopefully with two weeks to prepare, head coach Chris Ash and his staff can have this team ready to play in what is a critical game to this season. Starting quarterback McLane Carter left Saturday’s game with a reported concussion, but there hasn’t been an official update on his status as of yet.
