The no. 21/13 Rutgers women’s soccer team played in-state rival RV/25 Princeton (2-1-1) to a scoreless tie on the road on Saturday night. Reigning Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Week Meagan McClelland tied a career high with five saves in the game.
It was a mostly even contest, but Princeton held a 14-10 shot advantage, although Rutgers produced more shots in overtime than in regulation. Princeton also held a 6-5 edge in corner kicks.
After the host Tigers were the aggressors in the second half, the Scarlet Knights defense held them without a shot during the first overtime session. RU produced three shots but were unable to deliver a golden goal.
Both teams registered three shots apiece in the final overtime session, but the game ended in a scoreless draw.
Rutgers has now played 27 consecutive overtime contests since 2016 without a loss, going 11-0-16.
The Scarlet Knights (5-0-1) will stay on the road for its final non-conference game of the season, as they face Delaware (4-2) next Sunday, September 15th at 3 p.m. ET.
