Well, this is not a drill. The 2019 Rutgers football season is finally here! Tonight is their first chance to show last year is in the rearview mirror and progress has been made in the offseason. UMASS was one of the worst defenses in the country last season and despite having Walt Bell as head coach now, it may take some time for their offense to take off.

On the flip side, Rutgers is reportedly starting McLane Carter at quarterback, so all eye will be on the offense to see if they show signs of improvement. The defense is talented but also inexperienced in key spots. How they handle the first game is something to watch for as well.
