Embracing Expectations: Rutgers and the Big Ten Announce Full Men’s Basketball Schedule

NCAA Basketball: Big Ten Conference Tournament-Nebraska vs Rutgers David Banks-USA TODAY Sports

It’s basketball time!

Okay, well in about 2 and a half months, it will be basketball time. Today, Rutgers and the Big Ten announced the dates for all the games in the basketball schedule and hoo boy, is it an interesting start in the Big Ten for the Scarlet Knights.

In the league’s annual mid-December start, Rutgers will travel to Michigan State (the predicted top team in the league) to start Big Ten play. That game will be preceded by a trip to Pittsburgh and be followed two games at the RAC, Wisconsin and Seton Hall. It is the typical mid-December gauntlet for Rutgers.

However, it’s already clear the Scarlet Knights squad is embracing it.

There’s a chance for Rutgers to make some hay early on in January and the trip to MSG to face Michigan (who loses a home game) is intriguing. Rutgers fans should plan on taking a trip to Pack the Garden in February for the hoops and wrestling double header.

“The conference schedule is obviously a tremendous challenge, and this season is certainly no different,” said head coach Steve Pikiell. “Starting with the nation’s No. 1-ranked team on the road after playing at Pittsburgh in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge is a tough test, but one that we welcome. There’s a lot to be excited about. Teaming with our wrestling program to compete against Michigan at The Garden on Super Saturday is great for our brand, the team, the fans, alumni, and the Big Ten. It’s going to be a very unique environment, and we have the potential to be a unique team with a lot of versatility.”

There’s a lot to look forward to for hoops fans. Rutgers just finished its journey through Spain and now hopes to be at least a bubble team.

Get ready. It’s almost time for some RACtion.
