Rutgers wide receiver Monterio Hunt Suffers ACL injury

Head coach Chris Ash announces the bad news after Saturday’s open practice

NCAA Football: Rutgers at Michigan State Mike Carter-USA TODAY Sports

The first major injury of training camp was reported on Saturday afternoon, as head coach Chris Ash announced to the media that JUCO transfer wide receiver Monterio Hunt tore his ACL and will miss the entire season.

Hunt is a former 3-star recruit who played one year at Marshall before a year at Northwest Mississippi Community College. The 6’2” receiver chose Rutgers over Mississippi State and Kentucky last winter and was expected to be in the mix for the two deep this fall. There are over a dozen receivers still on the roster, but losing Hunt certainly hurts for a position group that has lacked production in recent seasons.
