The 6’3”, 225 pound Ugwu has the size and athletic ability to develop into an impact player during his career at Rutgers. In 2018 playing for Hillside, Ugwu starred on the defensive end, producing 118 tackles, 8 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries and 1 forced fumble. He also had success at running back for Hillside, but he is slated to stick with linebacker at Rutgers.
He visited Temple on January 25th per 247 Sports, but ultimately chose the Scarlet Knights. At one time Ugwu had over a dozen offers, including fellow Big Ten schools Minnesota, Nebraska, as well as Pitt, Syracuse, Boston College. After he chose to not make a decision during the early signing period, Ugwu ultimately chose Rutgers, who offered him back in January 2018.
Here is tape of Ugwu’s senior season on the defensive side of the ball.
