Cryor, a transfer from Georgia Tech who is in her third year at Rutgers, began the season on a suspension for a violation of team policy and missed eight games. Sargeant’s report states “Cryor’s dismissal stems from another violation of the same issue.”
The point guard averaged 8.1 points, 5.6 assists, and 2.7 rebounds in 18 games played this season. Cryor was second in Big Ten play with 6.1 assists per league contest. She was a key player for Rutgers, who are currently 18-8 overall and in third place of the Big Ten with a 10-5 record.
This news continues a turbulent few days for Rutgers basketball. Within a five day period, the program announced the dismissal of forward Caitlin Jenkins, as well that head coach C. Vivian Stringer was taking a leave of absence due to health reasons.
Rutgers, who has lost four of its last five games, return to action Monday night against Wisconsin at home.
