Shawn Collins originally committed to Rutgers back in June and remains committed through all the changes. Solid public, North Jersey kids to balance the parochials will be good for North Jersey’s connections and pride. Shawn faxed his LOI Wednesday.

Rutgers needs bodies at the tight end position. Shawn has a long way to go to become a good Big Ten player, but he has solid potential. He’s physical and can catch the ball, although he was not targeted as much as other TEs in other regions of the country or parochial schools. Don’t expect him to play much in 2020, but he could surprise in 2021.
High School Position: TE/DE (6’5”, 205 lbs.)
Projected college position: Tight End
High School: Montclair
Hometown: Montclair, NJ
Most notable other offers: Western Michigan, Bowling Green
The Rutgers Tight End group is the smallest on the team and at times struggled to field even a single scholarship player at the position in 2019 with all the injuries. For that reason in a best case, a healthy Johnathan Lewis, another year of Matt Alaimo, and that still leaves playing time open for the walk-ons or true freshmen. The Tight End spot is one that no team can ever have enough and the difference between replacement level players versus stars is massive.
Floor: Myles Nash
