Greg Schiano’s first coaching hire was Temple Defensive Coordinator Fran Brown and it paid immediate dividends when Chris Long flipped his commitment from the Owls. Long when he flipped on December 10 was considered by some sources the highest rated commit in the Rutgers 2020 class at that time. He signed Wednesday.

Chris Long is considered an athlete by most recruiting services so there’s a chance he could end up as a wide receiver or in the defensive backfield. There is some need for him to gain some functional strength, but because of his speed he could see the field in 2020. Generally players of his physical build often begin at corner, but he set so many records as a wide receiver, it will be hard not to see what he can do with the ball in his hands.
High School Position: WR, CB (6’0”, 160 lbs.)
Projected college position: Wide Receiver
High School: Willingboro
Hometown: Willingboro, NJ
Most notable other offers: Baylor, Nebraska
The Rutgers Wide Receiver room has had a surplus of scholarship players the last three years, but not enough production. There have been plenty of excuses like quarterback play, change in coordinators, change in scheme, etc. but ultimately anyone who can produce will see the field. If he does end up on defense, cornerback is always a position that freshmen can leapfrog into playing time, just ask Hayes and Bless Austin in recent memory.
Floor: K.J. Stroud
Most likely: Quron Pratt
Potential: Tres Moses
