When Rudy Winkler, the 2017 NCAA Hammer Throw national champion, announced he was coming to Rutgers as a graduate transfer, the hope was that he would leave with even more hardware than he arrived with. After shattering the program record with a throw of 72.02 meters (236’ 03”) earlier this season, Winkler produced an even better moment Friday at the Big Ten Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Winkler once again broke the Rutgers program mark he previously aet with a hammer throw of all-time record with a throw of 73.85 meters (242’ 3”). It was also the farthest hammer throw in the history of the Big Ten Championship, adding another milestone in his great career!
