3-Star Cornerback Donald Williams Commits To Rutgers Football

He is the third prospect to pledge to the program in the class of 2019

NCAA Football: Washington at Rutgers Ed Mulholland-USA TODAY Sports

With the conclusion of spring camp last weekend, Rutgers football hosted many recruits on campus for the Scarlet-White game. Head coach Chris Ash received his first commitment since then, as 3-star cornerback Donald Williams from Camden pledged to the program on Sunday afternoon. The news was first reported by Todderick Hunt of NJ Advance Media.

Williams was offered by Rutgers back in late January and wasted little time in making his decision, despite receiving recent offers from Temple, West Virginia, and Maryland. He is known for his physical play and produced 46 tackles, 12 pass break ups, one sack, one fumble recovery and two safeties last season for Camden. He should fit in well with the aggressive type of style Ash wants the secondary to play. It’s also another step forward for the coaching staff in making in-roads with recruiting South Jersey.

247 Sports ranks Williams the 27th best player in New Jersey in the 2019 class and is the third commit for Ash in this cycle . Rutgers also has the 12th ranked player in Newark quarterback Zamar Wise and 30th ranked player in Wayne Hills athlete Jaaron Hayek. Here are highlights of Williams from his junior season at Camden.
