Enjoying the Build: 4 Thoughts on Indiana

HOLY FREAKING CRAP YOU GUYS

NCAA Basketball: Big Ten Conference Tournament-Indiana vs Rutgers Nicole Sweet-USA TODAY Sports

Rutgers won today. They beat Indiana 76-69.

That Run: With under ten minutes left in the first half, Rutgers was down 16 points and looked like they were going to get run out of the building, but Rutgers went on a 24-7 run with an unbelievable dunk by Corey Sanders and a heck of a runout by Geo Baker and Rutgers found themselves up one at the break. And they believed.

Rutgers beat the Refs: That game was one of those 8 on 5 battles Rutgers has gone through a lot this season. The stripes were calling ticky tack fouls on the Scarlet Knights, but not much on Indiana. Rutgers withstood and made shots when they had to. They kept Indiana at arms length most of the night and did everything right down the stretch.

Corey Sanders, Deshawn Freeman and Geo Baker: First off, Corey Sanders was absolutely insane tonight 28 points. Huge momentum shifting dunks. Freeman played smart and scored 15 while pulling down 8 rebounds. And Geo Baker made four threes and all his free throws including two clutch shots at the end of the game. This is how Steve Pikiell drew it up in November and tonight it played out.

What the hell, might as well go win the whole damn thing: Purdue is a tough, tough match-up—but I said it yesterday: Forget the madness. Sometimes there’s magic in March. Love this team. Love this coach. Go Scarlet Knights!!
