Rutgers 11, Wagner 4.
On an unseasonably warm day, the Scarlet Knights (3-4) dropped a four spot in the bottom of the first and never looked back, adding another three in the fourth. With Rutgers leading 8-2 in the 5th, Wagner (3-3) had two runners on and only one out, second baseman Dan DiGeorgio made a nice play to get the second out of the inning at first base. Kyle Gerace was able to retire the next hitter and end the threat, holding an 8-3 advantage. The Scarlet Knights then tallied three more in the 5th to take a commanding 11-3 lead they would not relinquish behind Tommy Genuario, Tevin Murray, Collin Kiernan, and Serafino Brito out of the bullpen.
Decisive stat: Wagner really hurt themselves with four errors contributing to five unearned runs, while the Scarlet Knights only had one error resulting in one unearned run. Four is also the number of hits and RBI Jawuan Harris tallied on a huge day that saw him add two stolen bases and a home run.
Notable: Gerace had a solid outing with five innings, allowing two earned runs in his first start of the year. DiGeorgio, Harris, Kyle Walker, and Kevin Welsh all scored two runs in the game. Carmen Sclafani had three hits.
Gerace exits with the lead after pitching a career-high five innings in his first collegiate start. Genuario takes over.
