T.J. Robinson had not verbally committed to Rutgers, but the staff got good news today as the three-star safety from Florida officially signed to the program Wednesday. Despite T.J. announcing on his twitter that he would sign his NLI at 1:15 pm, Rutgers already reported they have added him to the fold:

Robinson has a reputation as a hard hitter and you can see why as his acceleration is immediately apparent from the highlights. T.J. plays wide receiver, corner, and safety in the clips but his most likely home is probably safety based on his build and his best skill possibly being anticipation. He shows an ability to ballhawk and also cut off lanes that at times the ball carrier might not even realize they are destined to.
Position: SS (6’3”, 181 lbs.)
High School: Riverview
Hometown: Riverview, FL
Robinson will likely begin in the room with Noah Joseph, co-defensive coordinator. The safety group needs to replace Kiy Hester and Saquan Hampton, both oft-injured who each started parts of four seasons. Damon Hayes is back at one safety spot, but the other starting position is wide open as are the two-deep slots. There are definitely reps open for the taking.
Floor: Jordan Thomas
Most likely: Zaire Kitchen
Potential: Joe Lefeged (Young)
