Mitchell played at Mater Dei before moving on to New Milford Academy in New Berlin, NY. In his one season at Butler CC, he posted 55 tackles this season. Juwan has good size and has good closing speed when in pursuit of the opposition. Mitchell has four years to play three and is expected to enroll at Rutgers for the spring semester.
Position: LB (6’2”, 225 lbs.)
Program: Butler C.C.
Hometown: Middletown, NJ
Most notable other offer: New Mexico (Kentucky and Louisville also showed interest)
Mitchell arrives at Rutgers to a linebacker room that loses three year starters Deonte Roberts and Trevor Morris. With the credit card fraud investigation not fully resolved, the Scarlet Knights are down to just four experienced linebackers so there is room for freshmen to surely compete on special teams and be pressed into duty on defense. If anyone is a difference maker right away, he could start.
Worst case: Isaiah Johnson
Most likely: Quintero Frierson
Best case: Marvin Booker
