Per a new rule last season, college football programs are able to accept National Letters of Intent (NLIs) during an early signing period for three days in December. These NLIs are a binding commitment between school and individual.
In 2018, this period begins Wednesday December 19th and concludes Friday December 21st. Once midnight strikes Saturday morning, all athletes other than mid-year Junior College transfers will need to wait until February 6, 2019 to sign on the dotted line. JUCOs can sign until January 15th before a freeze until February 6th.
The Rutgers Football team needs to add as much talent as they can to improve the roster. The staff is putting work in to secure young men to become future Rutgers students during this signing period and set themselves up for even more additions later in the recruiting cycle.
Stick with On the Banks for updates on who has signed and the expectations for the Scarlet Knights on the recruiting trail heading into February. We will have full coverage of individual commitments and big picture implications.
