Swedish Defensive Lineman Robin Jutwreten Commits To Rutgers Football

Rutgers v Illinois

Rutgers football added a European prospect to the program on Sunday, as Swedish defensive lineman Robin Jutwreten’s commitment was confirmed. The lineman had verbally committed two weeks ago, but needed his transcripts verified before he could be confirmed.

Jutwreten took his official visit to Rutgers this weekend, after taking a previous visit in December. He is friends with current Rutgers player Sam Vretman, who is also of Swedish descent.

The 6’4”, 235 pound defensive end held offers from Rutgers and UCF, both of which he picked up in the past few weeks. In addition, he either received interest or took unofficial visits to Penn State, Cincinnati, Colorado, Temple, UConn, and UMass, per 247 Sports.

Jutwreten projects as an edge rusher, but needs to bulk up to make an impact at this level. He appears to an athletic lineman who over time could become a solid rotational player on the defensive line for Rutgers. You can watch highlights of Jutwreten here.

After signing a 19 man recruiting class for 2018 during the early signing period, Rutgers has now added two verbal commits with Malik Dixon, the JUCO defensive back who gave his verbal pledge to the program over the weekend, and now Jutwreten. They also recently added Boston College grad transfer Jon Hilliman. As of now, the 2018 recruiting class for Rutgers football is ranked 48th in FBS and 13th in the Big Ten, per 247 Sports. The regular signing period for the additional commits to make it official is on February 7th.
