The offseason went pretty well for Rutgers as Nick Suriano transferred in and set the Knights up with a top five wrestler at the leadoff spot.
The positive news continued as RU saw six wrestlers ranked as training began. And that includes four in the top ten of their weight class.

The preseason ranking is based on where Flowrestling sees a team finishing in the NCAA tournament. From the Flowrestling site: “These team rankings are built entirely on projected NCAA Tournament finishes based off individual rankings.” And with the number of wrestlers ranked, Rutgers shows well in the potential NCAA finish.

In all, eight Big Ten schools are in the rankings, including six on Rutgers’ dual match schedule. Throw in number 18 North Carolina, and the Knights will be facing seven of the Top 20 on Flowrestling’s preseason list.
Rutgers opens the 2017-18 season with the Battle in the Bronx on Nov. 4 versus Maryland. It is part of the wrestling-football doubleheader at Yankee Stadium.
