After last week's 2-0 win over George Mason and a scoreless draw against Georgetown, Rutgers moved up in the polls and is now ranked #13th in the latest United Soccer Coaches Poll. They also moved up to #13 in the Top Drawer Soccer Poll, while they remained at #16 in the Soccer America Poll. In addition, Rutgers had two players pick up national and conference honors for their performances last week.

Goalkeeper Casey Murphy was named both the United Soccer Coaches National Player of the Week, as well as the Big Ten's Defensive Player of the Week. She made ten saves total in two games last week, including a season best six against Georgetown. Murphy has been perfect so far with seven clean sheets in 2017 and Rutgers is one of just two teams in the country to not have allowed a goal yet this season. She picked up her second Big Ten Weekly honor of the season and eighth of her career, while it was the second time in her career that she received the weekly national honor.

Freshman forward Alexa Ferreira was also recognized for producing the first goal and assist of her career coming off the bench in the win over George Mason last Friday. She was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week for her performance. Ferreira is the second Scarlet Knight to win Freshman of the Week honors, as the team’s co-leading goal scorer Amirah Ali was recognized the previous week.

#13 Rutgers (6-0-1) returns to action this Sunday at home against Maryland (6-0-1) to open Big Ten play.
