While the Rutgers fanbase waits to see what top target Montez Mathis will decide tomorrow, the other top billing guard Steve Pikiell was recruiting decided to take the plunge. (update: Mathis committed on Friday!)
The 6’2”, 3-star point guard from the class of 2018, Mac McClung, who electrified the AAU circuit this year with some great dunks, committed to the Scarlet Knights this afternoon, per two recruiting reporters.

6-foot-2 2018 combo G Mac McClung is expected to commit to Rutgers, per sources. https://t.co/9EDJn1h6NN— Adam Zagoria (@AdamZagoria) August 3, 2017
McClung took to twitter and confirmed the commitment soon after.
The athletic floor general had been under the radar from most high majors until this summer, but became a target of Pikiell after a visit last spring. And, he became national news after a dunk of his was on Sportscenter recently. This is a very good get for Rutgers and sets them up to see what Mathis decides tomorrow.
McClung is also the cousin of rapper Riff Raff.
The point guard joins Mamadou Doucoure as the second member of the 2018 class. At least one spot remains, as of now.
Here are some recent highlights of McClung from the July live period!
Welcome to the banks, Mac McClung!
