Azeem Victor, a senior linebacker, and sophomore defensive back Austin Joyner will not be joining the team on their trip to Piscataway Friday evening. Washington Head Coach Chris Peterson did not give a reason for the suspension other than a violation of team rules.
Victor, named a pre-season All-American by Sports Illustrated, will miss one game. Joyner is listed by Scout in their post-spring depth chart as the #3 back. Joyner will be suspended two games, while Victor will miss only the game against Rutgers.
Coach Peterson was quoted by the Seattle Times as saying, “Guys make mistakes,” Petersen said. “Azeem’s a good guy. … You have team standards, you live by them.”
