With training camp only a week plus away and the 2017 season opener less than six weeks out, it’s time to start to get excited about the return of Rutgers Football. While the program has a lot to improve on after last season’s 2-10 record, there are many reasons to be optimistic. Head coach Chris Ash has improved the coaching staff, brought in many potential high impact grad transfers, signed the best recruiting class in years, upgraded the talent and depth at quarterback, and the team is entering their second year of working in the system, as well as the strength and conditioning program.
As we enter another summer weekend, we are getting close to football returning. Yesterday, Ash tweeted out a trailer video for the 2017 season. It’s extremely well done and if you are a fan of Rutgers football and don’t get chills watching it, I don’t know what to tell you. The marketing of the program on social media since Ash took over has been much improved and this is just the latest example. The continuing program theme of the “The Hunt” is prominently featured and cleverly incorporated. You also see several players, including Janarion Grant, Blessuan Austin, and Isaiah Wharton, as well as the team working out in the weight room.
So as the heat wave continues in New Jersey and humidity remains stifling, watch this video as a reminder that the fall is nearing. Year two of the Ash Era is about to begin, as he continues to rebuild Rutgers football back towards respectability. More importantly, this video should get fans excited about the possibilities that lie ahead for this season. 41 days until the season opener at home on September 1st against Washington!
