Avery Young, a three-star cornerback ranked as the #30 recruit in Pennsylvania has just committed to Rutgers as part of the Class of 2018. Until this time, 247 Sports rated Maryland as the school most likely to land Young until this announcement was put on Twitter by Young himself early on Friday afternoon:

Young’s commitment is the latest in a string of recent players pledging to play for Rutgers. Since last Saturday, five players including Young, have made a verbal commitment to sign with the Scarlet Knights in February 2018.
Young, a 6’1”, 190 lb. junior from Coatsville PA is now the 12th commit to the Scarlet Knights Class of 2018. He is the fourth defensive back to commit to play in the Class of 2018, joining three New Jersey players Deion Jennings, Zamir Mickens, who both have committed in just the past week, as well as Jarrett Paul, who was the first commit to this class back in April.
Avery is the second of this class to hail from Pennsylvania, joining offensive lineman Matt Rosso, who also committed less than a week ago.
With Young’s commitment, 247 Sports now lists a composite rank for the 2018 recruiting class for Rutgers at 11th in the Big Ten, moving ahead of Iowa. With 11 commits rated 3-stars of the 12 in the class, 247 Sports lists a composite rank for the class at 48th in the country, as of today. 247 Sports on their own ranks Rutgers as 10th in the conference and 43rd in the country.
