The Rutgers University Football Program has been crisscrossing the eastern and central time zones the past few weeks looking to bring in recruits from as far away as the Lone Star State. Here is Part 1, of a 2 part series, on Chris Ash’s out of state offers in the month of March for the Class of 2018. The offers and star ratings are per 247 Sports.

Robert E Lee HS - Tyler, Texas.

Offers (10) from: Virginia, Syracuse, Iowa St., La. Lafayette, Houston

The fleet footed, strong armed QB from the high school that produced former NFL running back Cedric Benson and former First Lady Laura Bush would be an absolute steal for the Scarlet Knights.

Malik Shepherd - 3 Star Athlete : 5 - 11 180

Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania

Offers (4) from: W. Virginia, Temple, Toledo

The fleet footed slot receiver from the high school that produced NFL legend Joe Namath would be the perfect replacement for Janarian Grant.

Tavion Thomas - 4 Star Running Back : 6 -2 225

Dunbar HS, Dayton, Ohio

Offers (26) from: Ohio State, Alabama, Oregon, Michigan, Nebraska

The highly recruited Thomas is a physical down hill runner who would pay immediate dividends in Jerry Kill’s power spread offense.

Mychale Salahuddin - 3 Star Running Back : 5 - 11 190

H. D. Woodson HS, Washington D.C.

Offers (30) from: Oklahoma, Arkansas, N. Carolina, Virginia Tech, Maryland

The shifty Salahuddin can play on either side of the ball at the next level and is one of two targets that Coach Ash has his eye on from the high school that has won 7 consecutive D.C. City Championships and produced former Marshall and NFL QB Byron Leftwich.

Andrew Tuazama - 3 Star Tight End : 6 - 6 220

Knightdale HS, North Carolina

Offers (6) from: Miami, Mississippi, Tennessee, East Carolina, Purdue

The very talented and very versatile Tuazama can line up with his hand on the ground on both sides of the ball as well as line up in the slot or at outside linebacker.

Jayden McDonald - Unranked Linebacker : 6 - 2 200

Peachtree Ridge HS. Suwanee, Georgia

Offers (2) from: Rutgers and Arkansas State

McDonald is a wrecking ball on both sides of the line of scrimmage from the football rich Peach State in the deep south.

Wendell Davis - Unranked Linebacker : 6 - 2 215

Benedictine HS. Richmond, Virginia

Offers (9) from: Pitt, Boston College, Duke, Charlotte, E. Carolina, ODU

There is a lot of upside to this ball-hawking linebacker from the southern part of Virginia. He is very underrated and could be a steal for the Knights.

Xavier Peters - 4 Star Linebacker : 6 - 4 220

Lakota HS. West Chester, Ohio

Offers (24) from: Kentucky, Alabama, LSU, Penn St. Pitt, MSU, Florida, Louisville

Peters has the Three S’s . ... . Size, Speed, Strength and they help him fill out every one of his four star rating. The Scarlet Knights will have to out-recruit Kentucky for this linebacker but so does Penn State and Alabama.

Juan Wallace - 3 Star Inside Linebacker : 6 - 0 215

H.D. Woodson HS. Washington D.C.

Offers (11) from: Duke, Army, Maryland, Iowa St, Kentucky, W. Virginia

He has a real nose for the ball and isn't afraid to stick his face into a ball carrier. Shows range and athleticism from his inside linebacker spot that could translate into a versatile defender at the next level.

Jairus Brents - 4 Star Cornerback : 5 - 10 175

Waggener Traditional HS. Louisville, Kentucky.

Offers (33) from: Louisville, Alabama, USC, Virginia Tech, Miss St. UCLA
