The Scarlet defeated the White by the score of 16-13 on Saturday evening. It was a damp, rainy night that saw the offense struggle to put points on the board. Of course, playmakers such as Janarion Grant sat out and the only scholarship quarterback to take the field was starter Gio Rescigno. It resulted in 14 punts in the scrimmage by both sides combined.

The White team didn’t actually score in the game, as the 2nd and 3rd string units were spotted 13 points to start the game. The Scarlet team scored 16 points, including the game’s only touchdown, which was a 28 yard pass from QB Gio Rescigno to WR Damon Mitchell. Gio finished the game completing 18 of 30 passes for 193 yards and the lone TD. Mitchell led the receiving core with 73 yards, while Dacoven Bailey had 53 yards. Reserve kicker Gavin Haggerty had a good night, making three field goals, including the game winner from 41 yards in the final minute of action.

The scrimmage was comprised of four ten minute quarters with the clock running. The announced attendance was 13,158 based on free tickets distributed. However, the actual crowd was far less in very wet conditions. The 2017 recruiting class was announced at midfield right before kickoff, which was a nice touch.
