Offense Disappears for Rutgers Men's Lacrosse in 12-6 Loss to #13 Johns Hopkins

NCAA Football: Maryland at Rutgers Ed Mulholland-USA TODAY Sports

For the second consecutive game, the Rutgers men's lacrosse team ran into a hot goalie, and fell to #13 Johns Hopkins 12-6. The loss drops the Scarlet Knights to 8-2 and 0-1 in Big Ten play.

Six failed clears, and 11 total turnovers spelled doom for the Scarlet Knights who were down 7-3 at halftime. Johns Hopkins goalie Brock Turnbaugh finished with 12 saves on the day, although some of them were on shots straight into his stick.

The offense was led by Senior Connor Murphy who finished with three goals on the day. Kieran Mullins finished with three points on the day and Jules Heningburg was held to a disappointing one point.

Although he finished with only 10 saves, goalie Max Edelmann played well and was the reason the Scarlet Knights were competitive in the game. It was a nice rebound performance for Edelmann who finished with only five saves agains Delaware.

Following an 8-0 start, the Scarlet Knights need to return to the basics because they are no means a lock for the NCAA tournament. I do not believe all hope is lost, and I still believe this is a great team, but they definitely have lost some mojo. Heningburg is not playing to his All-American potential and as he goes, the Scarlet Knights offense goes.

The Scarlet Knights get a week off before returning to action next Saturday in the Big House at Michigan.
