BREAKING NEWS...— Varsity Aces (@VarsityAces) February 16, 2017
Greg Toal has retired as head football coach at Don Bosco Prep.
Mike Teel named new coach.
Press conference at 12:30 p.m.
Teel was the Scarlet Knight’s field general on the banks from 2004 - 2008, leading the program to some of the most successful seasons and highest rankings in school history. The 2003 Graduate of Don Bosco was a two year starter at QB where he led the Ironman to back to back state championships and an unblemished 23 - 0 record as a starter. The Oakland, NJ resident was a two time All-State selection at quarterback. Teel has been Don Bosco’s offensive coordinator for the past two seasons following collegiate coaching stints at Rutgers, Wagner and Kean.
On the Banks readers will remember that Mike Teel saved his best game for his last game as a Scarlet Knight, when he led Rutgers to a come from behind victory over N.C. State in the 2008 Papa Johns Bowl, where he threw for 319 yards and 2 touchdowns to close out a sparkling career.
Teel’s hire to a predominant New Jersey high school football program is great news for Coach Ash and Rutgers Football. This has the potential to help the recruiting pipeline into the Ramsey, New Jersey school that has produced great Scarlet Knight players like Teel himself, Darius Hamilton, Gary Nova and Leonte Carroo. Should we dare say that current Don Bosco Ironmen Tyler Friday and Kevin Brennan will be next to head south down the Jersey Turnpike to Piscataway?
