Senior Chris Groel was named the Big Ten Defensive player of the week after his performance agains St. John’s in the Scarlet Knights season opening 16-8 win. The Big Ten announced the awards today.

Groel collected five ground balls on the day and held St. John’s leading scorer from last season (Jason Debenedictis) goalless.
This is Groel’s second defensive player of the week award, his first coming the week of April 26, 2016.
