Despite missing key contributors, the Rutgers men's lacrosse team was able to cruise to a 16-8 victory over St. John’s in the season opener for both teams.

The Scarlet Knights were led by pre season All American Jules Heningburg, who finished the day with a team leading four goals. Freshman attackman Kieran Mullins really stood out in his first career game, finishing with two goals and two assists.
One part of the game that was impressive, was the improvement from the Rutgers midfielders. Chad Toliver, Casey Rose, and Jeff George made up the first line of midfielders, and they combined for 4 goals. Besides goals, they were able to move the ball well and find the open man.
In his return from injury, goalie Max Edelmann played well finishing with 10 saves and numerous successful clears that were able to lead to transition opportunities for the Scarlet Knight.
Although St. John’s wasn't the toughest opponent, it was good for the Scarlet Knights to get a win under their belt and start to build momentum as the season progresses.
The Scarlet Knights head home this weekend and face their toughest test so far, a battle against Army.
